European Political
Consultant Day:

A flashlight on the
future of our industry

Since 2021, the EAPC has been celebrating the European Political Consultant Day on its founding day, September 14. In addition to continent-wide public relations work, the focus is on a high-caliber online discussion on the major challenges facing the future of our industry.

2024: “Can our Democracy still be saved?” at the center of our activities
The EAPC celebrated “European Political Consultant Day 2024” with a high-profile online discussion.  The focus was on the topic “Can we still save our democracy?”. Under the extremely stimulating moderation of EAPC Board Member Helene Mashliah Gilkarov, the profound expert on Europe and journalist Noel Anne O’Sulivan and Belarus resident Dmitry Balkunets discussed the challenges of the future. Fake news, disinformation and, in particular, the influencing of elections by external forces are increasingly affecting democracy in Europe. In addition, there are movements that are deliberately undermining democracy through authoritarian tendencies. Here, both politicians and, in particular, political advisors and campaigners are called upon to develop strategies that can act as a protective barrier against this development. In their statements, both speakers gave a very exciting insight into the threats facing democracy today.

2023: “Campaigning in authoritarian countries”
We would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who contributed to the success of the “European Political Consultant Day” on September 14, 2022 with fantastic speakers from France, Sweden, USA and Turkey. While the second edition of the “EPCD” is behind us, preparations are already in full swing for the third edition on September 14, 2023, the founding day of EAPC.

2022: “The future of political counselling”
With a high-level discussion on the profession of political consultants, on the future of the industry and on the development of democracy in Europe, the 2nd edition of the “European Political Consultant Day” took place on September 14, 2022.

This day, launched last year to mark the 25th anniversary of the EAPC, aims to raise the profile of the political consultant profession in Europe and give visibility to the importance of the work.

With Melissa Cressey, USA, Necati Özkan, Turkey, Hélène Masliah-Gilkarov, France, and Bo Krogvig, Sweden, there was an exceedingly strong panel that generated a lot of enthusiasm among the participants. The evening was moderated by Torbjörn Sjöström, Sweden. Gülfem Saydan Sanver introduced the evening. The entire evening was recorded and can be found at the link below.

In addition, there was a press statement of the Board for the “European Political Consultant Day”, which was sent via the EAPC members to many media of the respective countries, you will find it enclosed below.

2021: “The birth of EPCD”
The Covid pandemic, which prevented the EAPC conference in Tbilisi/Georgia from taking place in 2020, also spread across the entire continent this year. For this reason, the 2021 European Conference, which was planned to be held in Vienna, had to be postponed and subsequently rescheduled for 2022. In order to send a strong signal for the industry in 2021, the EAPC Board decided to organise a ‘European Political Consultants’ Day’ on the day the association was founded. The online discussion generated so much enthusiasm that the EAPC finally decided to celebrate this day annually.
